On the occasion of Hola Mohalla, Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar Dr. Preeti Yadav on Friday inaugurated the boating service in Sirhind Canal from Dastan-e-Shahadat.Dr. Preeti Yadav said that to promote water tourism, district administration has commenced this adventurous boating especially for the pilgrims reaching at Sri Anandpur Sahib.
This boating facility has been started for common people only for one week but soon boating will be available permanently at Rupnagar.Deputy Commissioner said that Punjab Government has launched Punjab Water Tourism Policy-2023 and Punjab Adventure Tourism Policy-2023 in Invest Punjab to bring the tourists to beautiful land surrounded by Shivalik hills.
He said that there is a bright future for tourism in district Rupnagar and this land is associated with the establishment of Khalsa Panth, it is also associated with Indus Valley Civilisation.
Referring to other features of Rupnagar in tourism, she said that Indian and foreign tourists go to Himachal Pradesh and Jammu Kashmir by passing through this district, for which water tourism and adventure tourism have been developed as a center of attraction for such tourists here.
She said that if we talk about natural scenery, district Rupnagar can't be compared anywhere in North India.Dr. Preeti Yadav said that with the support of NDRF, this boating has been made possible on the occasion of Hola Mohalla and its ticket price has also been set at a very low. Dastan-e-Shahadat to Bhoje Majre is Rs 100 for a single side and Rs 200 for a double side.
She further said that during Hola Mohalla-2023, boating will continue from 8 am to 6 pm for the general public from 3 March 2023 to 8 March 2023.Deputy Commissioner said that special arrangements have also been made by NDRF team for the safety of the people during this time.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Field Officer Mrs. Anamjot Kaur, SDM Chamkaur Sahib Mr. Amrik Singh, NDRF Inspector Baljit Singh, Xen Mr. SS Bhullar, NDRF Hawaldar Sudesh Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar and Mohammad Zaid and senior officials were present.
