Vice Chairman, DDC Kathua Raghunadan Singh, today flagged off a group of 35 farmers here from the office complex of Chief Agriculture Officer for an exposure cum training visit to different Centres of Excellence.

During the three day exposure visit outside the UT of J&K, the farmers would visit to Centre of Excellence for Vegetable (Indo-Israel Project for Vegetables) Kartarpur, Ferozpur and Krishi Vigyan Kendra Gurdaspur, Punjab from February 27 to March 01, 2023.

The visit of the Farmers has been organised under the Sub Mission on Agriculture Extension (SMAE) of centrally sponsored schemes, National Mission for Agriculture Extension Technology (ATMA) by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Kathua.

Addressing the farmers, the Vice Chairman DDC appreciated the Agriculture Department for organising such exposure visits to acquaint farmers with new technologies in the agriculture sector. 

He appealed to farmers to learn the latest know-how of good agricultural practices during their visit to centres of excellence. He called for replicating the success stories in their farming practices by implementing the acquired knowledge in congenial areas of the district.

The Chief Agriculture Officer, while interacting with the farmers on the occasion, said that the visit has been organised for making the farmers aware of the latest techniques for commercial agriculture, Real time trends in organic farming and cultivation of different agriculture crops on scientific lines. 

He impressed upon them to interact with the farm scientists, experts, and extension functionaries to get acquainted with up to date methodologies in crop cultivation on scientific lines. 

District Agriculture Officer (Ext.) said special attention has been given to the capacity building of farmers to achieve the target under a number of programs. 

He urged the farmers to acquire technical skills in the field of integrated farming and adopt the latest technologies for cultivation of different agricultural / vegetable crops.

The touring farmers are accompanied by Agriculture Extension Officer, Kathua Ravi Chouhan, Agriculture Extension Assistants Makhan Lal, and Roshan Lal for the smooth conduct of the exposure visit.

Area Development Officer (Veg) Kathua, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Hiranagar, H.Q. Dayalachak, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Kathua and other officers/ officials were also present on the occasion.
