Aman Arora, Cabinet Minister of Information and Public Relations, Housing and Urban Development Departments on Tuesday said that Satguru Ram Singh Ji, the founder of Namdhari Sect, had not only contributed to the freedom of the country but had played an important role to eradicate the social evils from the society.

He said that the sacrifices made by Kuka martyrs under the leadership of Satguru Ram Singh Ji will remain an inspiration who had used non-cooperation as a political weapon against British Rule successfully.

This was stated by Mr Arora while addressing a gathering in a state-level function at Namdhari Shaheedi Smark Malerkotla held on the Martyrdom day of 66 Namdhari Kukas on Monday.

Following the path of non-violence as showed by Sikh Masters, Satguru Ram Singh Ji boycotted the facilities and goods offered by British Government, told Mr Arora and added the non-cooperation movement started by Satguru Ram Singh Ji was also adopted by other eminent freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi.

He said that a real tribute to Satguru Ram Singh Ji and Martyrs would be to follow the path shown by them and appealed to the people to emulate their basic ideology to bring transformation in the society.

Mr Arora informed the gathering that CM Bhagwant Singh Mann personally wanted to come here to pay his respects to Satguru Ram Singh Ji and Kukas but he could not attend the function due to some compelling circumstances. He claimed that CM, however, assured that State Government would make all efforts to fulfil the demands.

Keeping in view the religious feelings of the people attached to the Namdhari Sect, Mr Arora said that the state government would soon start the widening work of the Malerkotla-Khanna road. The Minister also assured that the long pending issue of parking space outside the smark would be resolved soon.

Talking with media persons, Mr Arora said that to ensure the house for every citizen of the state, Punjab Government has brought an affordable housing policy. He said that about 14500 illegal colonies developed in the state in the past should be taken advantage of to get these regularise.

He made it clear that the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government will not tolerate any kind of illegal activity and corruption in the state. On the occasion, Sect head Satguru Uday Singh honoured the minister by presenting a siropa and asked the gathering to follow the ideals and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, other Sikh Gurus, and Satguru Ram Singh Ji.
