Dr. Sandeep Garg, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police District SAS Nagar Mohali has briefed the media that, SAS Nagar Police got a major breakthrough in the supervision of Sh. Navreet Singh Virk, PPS. SP(R), SAS Nagar, and under the guidance of Sh. Bikramjit Singh Brar, PPS, DSP, Sub Divsion, Zirakpur, Insp. Deepinder Singh, SHO Police Station Zirakpur, and Police team led by SI Jashanpreet Singh I/C P.P. Baltana, working on Human/Tech input, arrested a person from DeraBassi namely Karan Kumar s/o Anil Kumar r/o vill. Bhankrupur, PS Dera Bassi used to posing himself a member of Lawrence Bishnoi Gang and threatened businessmen and demanded extortion money. A case FIR No. 22, Dated 16.01.2023 u/s 386, 506, IPC PS Zirakpur Distt. SAS Nagar was registered.
SSP, SAS Nagar further added that accused Karan Kumar, called and threatened Mukesh Kumar Aggarwal s/o Raghunandan Lal Aggarwal r/o H.No. 383, Saini Vihar, Phase-3 Baltana, Zirakpur, and demanded extortion money of Rs. 20 Lakhs. During preliminary interrogation, Karan Kumar confessed to his crime and disclosed that he met the complainant four months ago and took his mobile number in a business deal, and planned to extort money from him by posing himself as a member of Lawrance Bishnoi gang. Efforts are being made to apprehend other members involved in this gang. Further investigation is in process.
