Chitkara International School, Panchkula, celebrated its first annual day with grandeur, merriment, and enthusiasm. The Chief Guest for the event was Shri Gian Chand Gupta, Speaker of Parliament, who was accompanied by the event’s special guests, city’s BJP Counsellors, and Dr. Satish Kumar, Special Duty Officer to the Speaker of Parliament.

Dr Ashok K Chitkara, Chancellor, Chitkara University, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, Dr Madhu Chitkara, Pro-Chancellor, Chitkara University, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, and Chairperson, Chitkara International School, Chandigarh and Panchkula, and Dr Niyati Chitkara, Director, Chitkara International School, Chandigarh and Panchkula, welcomed the dignitaries and parents for the special occasion with marked fervour.

Chitkara International School's (CIS's) Annual Function is renowned for its grandiosity and outstanding performances, where each student of the school gets an opportunity to partake in the event and explore and exhibit their potential.

For its first annual function, the school exhibited a beautiful array of spices from around the world entailing mixed spices, paprika, nutmeg, black pepper, cardamom, saffron, asafoetida, carom seeds, oregano, turmeric, etc., the aspects and benefits of which were elucidated in their own endearing and artistic ways by the all the students from kindergarten to Grade 8.

With an exciting start to the event, a notable special performance on different spices along with the lighting of the lamp ceremony was organised entailing a special tadka by the dignitaries present at the function.

Upholding its endeavour of imparting superlative education through effective art integration in consonance with the mission of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and the promising National Education Policy 2020, the school exhibited a strong synergy of academics and co-curricular, disseminating relevant spice information through a PowerPoint Presentation displayed in concert with the dance, music and act performances put together by the dynamic students of the school.

The function’s theme“Spice Box - Masale Swad Anusar", was further incredibly manifested through a large human-sized and motorised spice making equipment against a magnificent backdrop of a lit world map, showcasing the origins of different spices.

The event indeed provided a fantastic opportunity for each Chitkarian to gain knowledge of different spices, learn about team spirit during preparations, find an avenue for artistic expression, and overcome stage fear.

Moreover, the event benefited pupils in comprehending the significance that spices have played throughout history. Thereby, the school also furthered its mission of inculcating employability skills in learners, especially for the students wanting to pursue a career in the culinary, medicine, or any other related field.

Finally, encouraging the students with his words of wisdom, the honourable Chief Guest, Shri Gian Chand Gupta, brilliantly shed light on the values of hard work, team spirit, perseverance, and integrity and also emphasised on the importance of education and participating in both academic and co-curricular activities.

Sharing his life journey with the youngsters, Shri Gian Chand Gupta further motivated the youth to pursue their dreams with conviction and enthusiasm.Expressing her exuberance on the entertainment-filled event, the sagacious Director-Schools, Dr Niyati Chitkara said, "I wholeheartedly appreciate the time taken by the Honourable Chief Guests and Guests of Honour for gracing this event.

We at CIS focus on the holistic development of young minds because we feel that the type of education that the children receive determines their success in the future.  Moreover, via events like these that celebrate CIS’s legacy the students get a chance to share their talents with the world.

I also thank all of the school’s stakeholders for attending the occasion and hope you enjoyed our children's performances. To all the participants, I would like to say that just like spices add flavour to the dishes, the exceptional performances presented by all of you have made this extravaganza a massive success."
