The Motor Vehicle Department Rajouri, in collaboration with the Health Department on Friday organized a road safety awareness cum free medical checkup camp for drivers and conductors of commercial vehicles here at PWD Dak Bunglow Thanamandi.

A team of the doctors from the Health Department conducted the health check up of drivers and checked blood pressure, sugar and eyesight of the participants. The participants were advised to avoid over speeding, jumping traffic signals, drunken driving, unnecessary honking, violation of designated traffic zones, riding without helmets, modifying two-wheelers, and using mobile phones while driving which are major causes of mishaps.

The drivers were also urged to be mindful of their duties and responsibilities while driving and observe self restraint and follow speeding limits which was a way forward towards changing driving behaviors.

It was enjoined upon the drivers to follow the golden rules of safe driving which include using seat belt, avoiding over-speed, keeping the vehicle fit, avoid using phone while driving and be sober on road.

Among the others present during the event were President MC Thanamandi, Shakeel Mir; DDC Member Thanamandi, Abdul Qayoom Mir; SDM Thanamandi, Vikas Dhar; SDPO Thanamandi; Tehsildar Thanamandi, Sahil Shah; ARTO, Shami Kumar and Corporator, Maqbool Raina.
