Department of Botany, Shri Krishan Chander Govt Degree College Poonch organized a local plant collection tour at village Jhulas and a Swachchata Abhiyan in the Mangnar area of Poonch with the involvement of the students of Sem Ist.

The plant collection tour was organised to impart practical knowledge to students, and inculcate a comprehensive approach in them as prescribed in NEP.  During the tour the students knew how plants grow and function in nature, their habits and the different types of habitats, and various other aspects of plant diversity pertaining to their syllabus.

The tour was designed to mitigate the “practical” related problems of the students. The college has planned more such practical learning programs and other curricular and extracurricular programs for the   SEM III and Sem V students in days to come.

The event further aimed to compensate the loss of studies in corona years with regard to “practical” learning and acquaint them with the actual purpose of field studies. Dr. Mahroof Khan of the Department of Botany discussed in depth the topics related to the subject.

Dr Rani Mughal discussed the importance of biodiversity for mankind and advised students to focus on practical learning as much as they do on classroom and laboratory experiments. Meanwhile, the students of Bsc Sem 1 actively participated in the mission clean and expressed their desire to have a neat and clean environment around Poonch township.

Dr. Mahroof Khan in charge of the “Mission Clean” advised the students to become ambassadors of the  Prime Minister’s  Swachchata Abhiyan. Dr Zeba Manzar guest faculty of the institution also accompanied the local tour.
