Under the Aegis of Department of Tourism UT J&K, Directorate of Tourism, Jammu organized a one day picnic along with the "the Association of Deaf and Aphasic, UT, J&K" for the Deaf Children and Adults at Mansar.

The one day event was conceptualized under the close supervision of Joint Director Tourism Jammu, Sunaina Sharma Mehta in an endeavour to promote Jammu as an inclusive destination for tourists across social milieu and strata.

The day was planned with a variety of outdoor activities with the goal of assisting deaf children and adults in overcoming social interaction which is caused by language barriers. The participants played chess and other recreational activities and spent a full day besides the Mansar Lake.

The purpose of the said picnic was to relieve these specially abled persons from the stress which they feel being in the closed premises most of the time particularly since the Covid times. The day concluded with an award and felicitation ceremony which was held at the lawns of TRC Mansar.

Tourism Department had organized a similar excursion to Patnitop with ‘the Association of Deaf and Aphasic, UT, J&K’ in 2021. Pertinent to mention here that Jammu is a very safe, inclusive and reliable destination for people across all walks of life and social milieu.

Earlier in the day, the bus carrying a group of 30 specially abled persons was flagged off from TRC JAMMU for Mansar.Speaking on the occasion, Director Tourism Jammu, Vivekananda Rai said that such events are an effort to promote all Destinations of Jammu region among local and non local travellers and more such events shall be organized in the near future.
