Divisional Office, J&K Khadi & Village Industries Board (KVIB) Jammu Division and District Office, J&K Khadi & Village Industries Board Jammu today jointly celebrated 153rd Gandhi Jayanti/Gram Sabha to pay rich floral tribute to Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi Ji.
Among officers/officials of the board, BDC Chairman R.S. Pura, Tarseem Lal, Sarpanche Flora, Surjeet Kumar and panches and locals in large numbers were present on the occasion.While speaking on the occasion, Dy. Chief Executive Officer, KVIB Jammu Division, while highlighting the vision of Father of Nation, asserted that real development of the nation depends on development of villages, as more than 70% of the national population lives in villages.
He stressed that need of urban areas depends on the produce of villages and KVIB is playing a vital role in the overall development of villagers by implementing the schemes like PMEGP, JKREGP and SFURTI wherein a sufficient amount of margin money (subsidy) is also provided as financial assistance in addition to the loan amount provided.
The BDC Chairman threw light on the role and ideas of Mahatma Gandhi in development and modernization of villages. He also appreciated the KVIB for providing the employment in the shape of establishing the self employment ventures in villages especially in the border belt of Samba and Kathua Districts.
