MLA from Jalandhar West Sheetal Angural today said that the Khedan Watan Punjab dian will help in grooming the budding players of Punjab for national and international events.Chairing district level swimming competition under the aegis of Kheda Watan Punjab Dian here at local Sports college, Angural said that the games a brainchild of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will go a long way in promoting culture of sports in the state.
He said that the day is not far away when these games will help in restoring the pristine glory of sports in the state. He said that the games will provide an opportunity to the youth to excel in field of sports.
The MLA said that the state government has been making all out efforts for promoting sports across the state to channelize the unbounded energy of youth in a positive manner. He said that these games are a right step towards this direction as it will provide platform to the players for showcasing their latent.
He also said that these games will help the state government to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the players which will be beneficial for grooming them for the national and international events in future.
He said that Punjab has lot of sports talent and state government is leaving no stone unturned to enable the players to participate and win Olympic medals for India. He said that the day is not far when the players performing in these games will bag medals for the state and country.He extended best wishes to organisers for the hosting the events.
On the occasion AAP leader Mr Rajan Angural, District Sports Officer Mr Lovejit Singh, Swimming coach Mr Umesh Sharma, Dhyanchand Awardee Mr Sushil Kohli, Deputy Director Sports LPU Dr V Kaul, Coach Mr Mahinder Pal and Ms Aditi, Principal Sports college Dr Ranbir Singh, Mrs Amandeep Kaur and others were also present.
