Malaysia Day is a public holiday that is held on September 16 every year to commemorate the establishment of the Malaysian federation on that date in 1963. Malaysia Day is also known as ‘Hari Malaysia’. This event saw Malaya, North Borneo (which was renamed Sabah), Sarawak, and Singapore unite into a single state. The meaning of Malay in Malaysia is (Malay: Hari Malaysia)

On 16 September Malaysia day falls and commemorates the anniversary of the formation of the Malaysian Federation, which was held on the same date in 1963. However, it may seem slightly strange that Malaysia has two different national days, even though both of them are embedded with stories of sacrifices, struggles, and freedom

That is why both days are identified as honourable days by Malaysia. But this day was first identified as an official holiday in 2010. Primarily, the celebrations of Malaysia Day involve national ceremonies which celebrate the strength of Malaysians.

  • Victory Day: The constituencies of Malay, Sabah, Sarawak, and Singapore. These nations overcame their struggles and joined a single federation.

  • Festive Day: In these constituencies, this day is celebrated as a festival because what is more enjoyable for the citizens who have to get victory over their nation. People sing their national songs and raise each other’s morale.

  • Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak have different independence days
  • As they achieved independence on 31 August, but their day of celebration was postponed by the united nation.
  • In the flag, one star on the corner represents Singapore, but later it was replaced by Kaula Lumpur.
  • The public holiday, which should be celebrated on 16 September officially falls on 17 September.
