We all know that International Democracy Day is celebrated on September 15th every year. Democracy itself defines how important or necessary it is. One rule is applied in democratic countries, and that is: for the people, by the people, and to the people. In a democratic country, it is likely that each person has the right to live their life in their own way.

The International Day of Democracy is celebrated all over the world. It started to be celebrated when a resolution was passed by the UN General Assembly in the year of 2007. And the main aim behind it is to encourage the government to strengthen and consolidate democracy.

By passing this resolution, they wanted to make countries strong in democracy. Since the day was first observed in 2008, hundreds of meetings have been held worldwide. By celebrating International Democracy Day, they can review the conditions at the democratic level and see if they are working well in the expectation of democracy or not. In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) observed September 15th as the International Day of Democracy with the aim of promoting and upholding the principles of democracy and invited all member states and organisations to commemorate the day in an appropriate manner that contributes to raising public awareness.

Importance:

International Democracy Day has its own unique significance. The world is rushing everywhere we see. Also, the drivers of the country sometimes get busy, but the citizens who are living in the country have to follow those laws and remain under the laws. They have to work, live, and perform all their actions.

So basically, this day was made to remind the government to ensure their duties towards security or make the law stronger. When this day was established in 2007, the main purpose behind it was to ensure that the democracy of the country was strong.

This day also highlights the basic human rights of the citizens and enables the government to make a strong democracy for the betterment of its people. This day is a celebration of the mandate of justice, peace, and the various roles a government has to protect the interests and rights of its people.

How to Celebrate the International Day of Democracy?

You can celebrate this day to promote the principles of democracy in the world. One can easily celebrate this day by grouping individuals and reviewing the working principles of the democratic status of the country. The groups can conduct healthy discussions and campaigns. They can also distribute posters and leaflets in line with the themes suggested by the UNGA.

The UNGA has passed this resolution for the betterment of the people. People should also have to raise their voices if they are not feeling democratic or if they have noticed that their rights are being exploited. So on this day, they can easily run any campaign in which they can highlight the issues which they feel are not justified in society.
