Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today solicited support of leading German company BayWa to address the key issues of climate change, irrigation, yield forecast, harvest progress analysis, assessment of climate change and impact on agriculture production to validate investment plans in the state. 

The Chief Minister called on Designated CEO BayWa Marcus Pöllinger, CEO Vista Dr. Heike Bach and Senior Vice President IT Development BayWa Group Tobias Horstmann during his tour to Munich.The Chief Minister apprised the representatives of the company that Punjab is predominantly an agrarian economy with a large number of its populace dependent on agriculture. 

He said that Punjab wants to upgrade agriculture activities to ensure that farmers of the state are immensely benefited from it. Bhagwant Mann invited BayWa to provide sustainable agriculture business solutions that will help mechanization of Punjab agriculture by digitization adding that BayWa, a leading agri trading and Service Company, can play an important role for Punjab’s industrial ecosystem in terms of forward value chain linkage.

The Chief Minister also laid thrust on the need for solutions to address various pertinent topics for Punjab like climate change, irrigation, yield forecast, harvest progress analysis, assessment of climate change impact on agriculture production to validate investment plans. 

He invited BayWa to establish their operations in Punjab and said that state’s political stability, strong connectivity, liberal and pro-industry policies, clean and healthy environment coupled with high-quality of life are key advantages for industry. Bhagwant Mann also extended an invitation to senior officials of BayWa to attend the Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit scheduled for February 23-24, 2023. 

The Chief Minister, while highlighting the industry-friendly policies of the state government, said that Punjab's connectivity in terms of road, railways and airways, friendly labour relations with no domicile restrictions and uninterrupted power supply are conducive for entrepreneurs to set up their operations in Punjab. 

He said that the simplified single window systems of Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion and time-bound incentives have enabled the Punjab Government in creating a liberal and industry-friendly environment in the State. Bhagwant Mann said that due to strenuous efforts of the state government Punjab has today emerged as the most preferred destination for investment in the country. 

Taking part in deliberations, designated CEO BayWa and his team gave a presentation of the company's business operations. They apprised that BayWa is engaged in the business areas of energy, agriculture and building material as well as the development segment of innovation and digitization. They further said that the company operates in over 50 countries with sales of about 19.8 billion Euros. 

On the occasion CEO of Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion (Invest Punjab) Kamal Kishor Yadav gave a detailed presentation about the strengths of the industrial ecosystem of Punjab and the opportunities for industry in the State.Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included CEO Invest Punjab Kamal Kishor Yadav, Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Kumar Amit, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Himanshu Jain and others.
