To mark the ’International Literacy Day,' District Library Kathua organised events to encourage students to come forward and inculcate the habit of reading and writing.At the District Library, a creative short story writing event called 'Cook a Book' was also organised where many subscribers of the District Library participated.

Vice Chairperson, DDC Kathua Raghunandan Singh, who was the chief guest, appreciated the efforts of the  District Library for taking up the initiative to improve reading and writing skills of the students. District Library also organised a programme 'HunarBaaz' at Government Middle School Kathua with the aim to provide students a chance to display their literacy skills with the element of fun and play  besides making people aware of the value of literacy.

Incharge, District Library Kathua Sunil Sharma said District Library is one of the biggest libraries in Jammu Division housing thousands of books and journals. He appealed to the youth to come forward and adopt reading and writing habits to improve their literacy skills.
