The Director School Education Kashmir, Tassaduq Hussain Mir today flagged-off Shanti Yatra by lighting a Peace Torch in commemoration of 153rd Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi from Government Model HSS Anantnag.Joint Director School Education South (ADC) Anantnag, Gulzar Ahmad, CEO Anantnag and Principal GMHSS Anantnag were also present on the occasion.

The Shanti Yatra along with Peace Torch will go in all the 10 districts of Kashmir with School students and other concerned bringing a message of peace and will culminate in Srinagar on 2nd October, the Gandhi Jayanti. On the occasion, the Director said that the Shanti Yatra is aimed to popularize the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi with regard to peace and universal brotherhood among the students, which is the need of the hour. 

He further said that month-long activities based on teachings of Gandhi Ji in all the educational institutions of Kashmir would be conducted in connection with the message of peace for all, for which all the preparations are in place.Besides senior officers of the department, teachers and students from various educational institutions took part in Shanti Yatra which passed through different institutions and culminated at Girls Hr. Sec. School Ranibagh Anantnag for the first day.
