Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday assured fulsome support and cooperation to the management of Guru Gobind Singh refinery Bathinda for any further expansion in this prestigious project.The Chief Minister, who visited the refinery today, said that this ambitious project is playing an important role in the economic development of state. 

He said that the state government is duty-bound to extend a helping hand in any further expansion of the project. Bhagwant Mann said that such projects are need of the hour to put state on orbit of high growth trajectory. The Chief Minister said that the state government is mulling to set up plastic park in the area. He said that this will help in checking the  import of plastic from other states. Likewise, Bhagwant Mann said that it will also help in generating new employment for the youth in region.

The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction that HMEL’s Guru Gobind Singh Refinery is the first oil and gas project to be set up in the state of Punjab and the largest company in the state in terms of capital investment at a single location. He said that the Refinery produces Bharat Stage-VI compliant transportation fuels viz, Motor Spirit and High-Speed Diesel etc and is regarded as the energy lifeline of Northern India. 

Bhagwant Mann envisioned that once commissioned, the Guru Gobind Singh Polymer Addition Project will position the state as a petrochemical hub and bring further positive socio-economic benefits to Punjab and the Bathinda region in particular.The chief minister further said that the refinery is important for the state as it generates Employment for the youth besides acting as a catalyst for the development of the region. 

He asked the management of the refinery to ensure that jobs are given mostly to the local youth. Bhagwant Mann said that in case the refinery faces any sort of difficulty in finding adequately skilled youth in the state then they must contact the state government which will get it arranged through Punjab skill mission.

The Chief Minister further said that the state government is committed for cementing the ethos of communal harmony, peace and brotherhood in the state. He said that no one will be allowed to disturb the hard earned peace of the state and severest of severe action will be taken against anyone trying to do so. 

Bhagwant Mann said that forces inimical to the peace and progress of the state are hatching conspiracies to disturb it but any such nefarious attempt will be thwarted by the state government.The Chief Minister further said that in dearth of any tangible issue against the opposition parties in Punjab are trying to mislead people by raising bogus issues. 

He said that Punjab government has taken several path breaking initiatives for the well-being of the people but the opposition is not able to digest that. Bhagwant Mann said that undeterred the state government will continue its pro-people and development oriented policies to usher a new Era of peace prosperity and progress in the state.

The Chief Minister also said that concerted efforts will be made for giving a complete facelift to the holy town of Talwandi Sabo. Bhagwant Mann said that he is fortunate to have got this opportunity to serve this pious land and no stone will be left unturned for this noble cause. He said that a complete plan will be chalked out for holistic development of Talwandi Sabo.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by MLAs Jagroop Singh Gill, Amit Rattan, Prof. Baljinder Kaur, Balkar Singh Sidhu, Sukhvir Singh Maisarkhana, Jagsir Singh, Principal Budh Ram, Gurpreet Singh Banwali and others.
