Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan : DC Kupwara reviews preparations for month long Abhiyan

Directs officers to work in close coordination for successful conduct of Abhiyan

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the preparations for conduct of month long ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ in the district. Addressing the meeting, the DC stressed upon the officers to work in close coordination and dedication to make the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ successful on the ground.

He said that this is a war against psychotropic drugs and every officer has to play an active role in effective implementation of the programme. He directed the officers to ensure activities conducted during the Abhiyan are visible on ground. The DC directed officers to make the ‘Nasha Mukt Abiyan’ a sensitive programme which should touch the hearts of children especially victims so that they get motivated to come out from the menace. 

To make the campaign against the drugs more explicit, the DC directed the officers to make a pamphlet titled “Drug is Poison” and circulate among the colleges, schools and other conspicuous places.The DC passed on specific directions to each officer to perform their assigned tasks during the month-long ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’.

He nominated the District Social Welfare Officer as Coordinator and Mentor for smooth conduct and control of the programme in Kupwara.The ARTO Kupwara was directed to conduct a big bike rally from Kupwara to Handwara involving youth clubs and officers to send a strong message against the ill effects of drugs. 

Besides, ARTO Kupwara, Dy SP Traffic Kupwara/Handwara were directed to display drug abuse quotes on all public transport vehicles and bike rally. The Principals of GDCs and CEO were directed to conduct theme based essay/painting competitions in colleges and schools, besides, student rallies. They were also directed to conduct theme centric wall paintings/laddi shah/singing/skits/Nukad-nataks/symposiums/lectures etc. 

The ACD and ACP were directed to conduct Gram Sabhas on 8th of this month for constitution of Nasha Mukt Committees at Panchayat Level for identification of victims for their rehabilitation.  The ACP was also directed to ensure the ill effects of drug abuse are advocated in Jumma Khutba on Fridays. 

The CMO was directed for mandatory display of pamphlets/pictorial warnings on all drug/grocery/ration stores in the district. All the departments were directed to display warning boards on conspicuous places and public offices/banks illustrating bad effects of psychoactive substances.

Other arrangements were also reviewed and responsibilities were fixed upon the concerned officers. These include civil society driven campaigning/street play, Mega Youth Parliament, capacity building programmes of public functionaries, career counseling and awareness sessions, theme based sports, orientation of parents, destruction of bhang cultivation drives, showcasing of documentaries across all schools/colleges/LEDs in the district and other measures were also discussed. 

ACR Kupwara, ACD, ACP, ASP Handwara, CMO, CEO, DSWO, ARTO, DIO, DYS&SO, besides, Principals of all Degree Colleges and concerned officers attended the meeting.
