Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Friday said that Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal leaders were shielding the gangsters, but now an investigation is underway to unearth wrongdoing during previous governments.
He said that if any political leaders or officers were found to be linked with criminals during the probe, they will be put behind bars.Minister Cheema, while campaigning for AAP candidate Gurmail Singh in Sangrur, said, "Aam Aadmi Party will score a hat trick in Sangrur by-election and Gurmail Singh will win this seat by a landslide victory on basis of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's three months governance."
Cheema said that in the first two months of Mann government, 26454 job advertisements were issued for unemployed youth, Rs 1500 per acre incentive for direct sowing of paddy, free ration to households, 300 units of free electricity and other decisions were taken by the government in just three months.
He said that AAP is the strongest party in Sangrur and all the opponents have joined together to malign AAP. Cheema said that other candidates will not be able to secure security deposits and the Congress, SAD and BJP presidents will resign later.
The finance minister said that if the youth of Punjab is unemployed then it is because of the previous governments. During the three months in power, the Mann government has taken many historic decisions and will continue take major decisions in the interest of all common man, including the youth.
We will solve all the issues of people in the coming months. Talking about corruption, Harpal Singh Cheema said that it was also historic that Chief Minister Mann did not spare even his minister and sent him to jail on corruption charges. Those looted Punjab, will be in the jails.The Congress which held dharnas to save its corrupt leader will not survive the Sangrur seat.
Replying to a query, Cheema said that Punjab Police has been doing a great job for the security of the state. The Punjab Police had worked for maintaining peace even in the era of terrorism and now the role of police against gangsters is also significant.
The Punjab Police has caught the gangsters and is doing a tremendous work with full vigour and legal process.Harpal Singh Cheema said that Akali Dal Badal was already running away from Sangrur ground.
Akali Dal avoided photos of former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and President Sukhbir Singh Badal on their posters and banners because they know that nobody will cast votes on their names.
Commenting on SAD (A) candidate Simranjit Singh Mann, the AAP Minister said he will create a record of losing elections. Responding to the Sikh prisoners’ campaign of SAD, Harpal Singh Cheema said, “they can say whatever they want but AAP’s thumping victory will be a befitting reply to all who are trying to malign the name of this pro-people party.
AAP is a about eight years old party which has made history by winning 92 out of 117 seats in the Assembly elections.” He said that when the Punjab Assembly elections were held in 2022, these opponents were saying that AAP leaders including Harpal Singh Cheema would lose badly but opposition parties and candidates faced humiliating defeats.
