Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Vijay Singla, on Wednesday, directed the civil surgeons of the state for rationalization of the employees of the department deputed in the districts to ensure quality healthcare services to the people till the new recruitments are made.Presiding over the maiden meeting of all the civil surgeons at Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Punjab here, Dr. Singla said, the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to provide quality healthcare facilities to the people of the state thus expeditiously working in this direction, instructing the civil surgeons to ensure timely attendance of the officers and other staff so that no patient or his relative would face any difficulty.

"Civil surgeons should furnish lists of required medicines in the hospitals to the headquarters at the earliest so that all the medicines could be made available to the people through the government dispensaries", directed the minister, instructing that efforts for further enhancement of institutional delivery in government hospitals should be made besides increasing antenatal check up registration of pregnant ladies and make arrangements for safe delivery of high risk pregnant women.Stressing upon improving the referral system, Dr. Singla directed that patients should only be referred in case of emergency and pay special attention to the maintenance of oxygen plants so that patients do not face any problem during an emergency.

The Health Minister directed to further improve the functioning of the health institutions, emphasizing on the need to pay special attention to the maintenance and cleanliness of the government health institutions. He also directed that Civil Surgeons should visit health facilities under their jurisdiction from time to time and to rectify the shortcomings found during visit.Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare Punjab Mr. Ajoy Sharma, IAS, Mission Director NHM Punjab Mr. Kumar Rahul, Managing Director PHSC Mr. Bhupinder Singh, Joint Secretary Amandeep Kaur Brar. Director Health & Family Welfare Punjab Dr. Gurinder Bir Singh, Director Health Services (FW) Punjab, Dr. Om Prakash Gojra, Director NHM Dr. Arit Kaur, Director PHSC Dr. Raman Sharma, Joint Director Homeopathy Dr. Balihar Singh and all Deputy Directors and other officials were present.
