Cabinet Minister Pargat Singh today inaugurated a sports ground at village Khakat near Sahnewal, of the district. Sports ground has come up with the efforts of Punjab Youth Development Board (PYDB) Chairman Sukhwinder Singh Bindra and has been constructed by Highway Industries Ltd under CSR.This sports ground will have facilities of Basketball, Cricket, Football, Badminton, Kho Kho, Rope Climbing and a 400-m athletics track.While speaking on the occasion, Sukhwinder Singh Bindra thanked Umesh Munjal, Anmol Munjal and Ankur Munjal from Highway Industries Ltd for developing this sports ground under CSR. He said that soon, 4 more such sports grounds are also being developed in other villages of Sahnewal area.

He said that this playground is made under CSR funds for the betterment of Youth & to promote Sports. He said that Highway Industries Ltd. will also maintain this sports ground.Cabinet Minister Pargat Singh said that this was joint Initiative of Punjab Youth Development Board with Highway Industries Ltd. He also appealed to other industrialists to contribute for developing such sports parks in other parts of the state.He said that the Punjab government, under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi is committed for the promotion of sports in the state. He said that sports is the best mode through which youth can not only remain fit, but would never touch drugs.Prominent among those present on the occasion included senior Congress leader Satwinder Kaur Bitti, DEO Lakhvir Singh, besides a large number of area residents.
