DC Srinagar reviews preparations for “Clean India” Programme

In connection with “Clean India” Programme being held under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava from 1st to 31st October 2021, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Monday chaired an Officers meeting convened to review the preparations being made by different departments for smooth conduct of the Programme.On the occasion, the DDC directed all the Officers to prepare a Department wise comprehensive Action Plan/Calendar of Activities regarding “Clean India” Programme and submit it by September 28.He asked them to involve concerned DDC, BDC and PRI members besides other stakeholders with the programme for its successful implementation on ground. He further directed for utilizing services of the NSS, NYKs and other volunteers to mobilize the people with regard to the programme.The DDC stressed on adopting innovative ways with regard to programmes to give a new look to Srinagar district by cleaning the entire City. He also stressed on making best use of the latest technology by launching the IEC campaign for mass awareness regarding the programme. 

 Highlighting the objectives of the “Clean India” programme, the DDC said that the basic purpose of the programme is to organize activities to clean waste throughout the country from 1st to 31st October 2021. He said the programme will be organized in all villages having the presence of NYKS affiliated Youth Clubs, in all districts of the country.The DDC said active involvement of all segments of society, Government organizations including PRIs and Non- Government Organizations is paramount to infuse awareness and feeling of pride among citizens to keep their surroundings clean and waste free. He said key activities of the programme will include collection and disposal of waste - through collection drives and door to door campaign, Village beautification, cleanliness and beautification of Historical Monuments, Heritage sites, Community centres, Youth Clubs, School buildings, Panchayat buildings, Religious places, Hospitals and Water Bodies/ Resources through Voluntary.The DDC added that Clean India Campaign comprises three phases including Preparatory Phase, Launching Phase and Collection of Waste and Disposal and on an average of 30 kgs waste per village/ward will be collected and disposed off per day.Chief Executive Officer, Wakaf Board Mufti Farid ud Din, Additional District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Gulzar Ahmad, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Khurshid Ahmad Shah, Deputy Director, Nehru Yuwa Kendra, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Chief Sanitation Officer, SMC, Secretary LAWDA, Deputy Chief Education Officer, District Panchayat Officer, all Block Development Officers and other concerned were present in the meeting.
