Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib today visited Panchayat Sansoo and interacted with local artisans associated with pottery making and Bamboo craft and listened to their issues and demands.The BDC Chairperson, Udhampur Balwan Singh, District Officers and elected Panchayat representative of Panchayat Sansoo, Kuldeep Sharma, besides the general public were present.The DC educated the artisans about the importance of being self-reliant and highlighted the role of artisans in the society. She said that the District Administration is committed to provide market support to the artisans and work for promotion of local craft.Listing various centrally sponsored schemes launched for helping artisans, the DC called upon the artisans to come forward and avail the benefits like market linkage modernization of designs and tools.The Local people and artisan projected several demands. They complained about shortage of drinking water supply and sought opening of cutting and tailoring centre, Up-gradation of Middle School Magani to High School etc. The DC assured the public that all their genuine demands will be redressed on priority basis.
