Reiterating the Punjab Government's commitment, Punjab Cooperation and Jails Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa here today said that the holistic development of the state including cities is the top most priority and paying special attention to this.After the election meeting of office bearers of the Municipal Corporation Mohali, the Cabinet Minister said that overall development agenda has been taken forward throughout the state. Due to this, the people of the state expressed their confidence towards the work of the present government and elected our candidates as councilors.Mr. Randhawa said that the election of Mayor of Mohali has been conducted as per the directions of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and State Congress President Mr. Sunil Jakhar in consultation with the councilors. Mr. Amarjit Singh Jiti Sidhu has been elected as Mayor, similarly Amrik Singh Somal elected as Senior Deputy Mayor, while Kuljit Singh Bedi as Deputy Mayor of MC Mohali.Lauding Health Minister and MLA of Mohali Balbir Singh Sidhu's efforts, Mr. Randhawa said that he had rendered unparalleled service to Mohali district as MLA & Minister and worked tirelessly for the development of the district. He said that a good team has been elected under the leadership of Jiti Sidhu and expressed hope that he too would fulfill the new responsibility diligently.On the occasion, Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu said that this election would be proved as immensely beneficial to the city of Mohali as the state government, MLAs and Mayors belongs to the same party and will work in tandem with similar thought of mind. 

He said that the development works were obstructed by some people during past so that the credit for the development works would not go to the government but this will not happen again as Mohali will become a city of paradigm regarding development under the new team.Mr. Sidhu said that appropriate action would be taken against those who committed alleged irregularities especially in acquiring pruning machines in the past. He clarified that the sectors which are outside the limits of the Municipal Corporation will be brought under the purview of the Corporation and all-around development will be made.The Health Minister said that the city has witnessed the abundance of development works in various fields during the last 4 years and he would continue his efforts for the overall development of Mohali. A new medical college and hospital have been brought here. Punjab Government is working on projects worth crores of rupees including world-class community centers. Mohali has made headlines not only at the country level but also on the world level as the developmental graph goes high. He expressed hope that the newly elected team of the Municipal Corporation would work day and night for the betterment of the city.Newly elected Mayor Mr. Amarjit Singh Jiti Sidhu said that he would work hard for the development of the city without any discrimination. He also extended gratitude towards councilors and the people of Mohali for electing him a Mayor.It is pertinent to mention that a meeting of elected councilors was held at the office of MC Mohali under the chairmanship of Mr. Anurag Verma, Principal Secretary, Government of Punjab, and Divisional Commissioner, Rupnagar.Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included MLA Mr. Gurpreet Singh GP, Political Secretary to Health Minister and Chairman Market Committee Kharar Mr. Harkesh Chand Sharma Machhli Kalan, Municipal Commissioner Mr. Kamal Kumar Garg, and various councilors besides government officials.
