Converted 9604 Schools Into Smart Schools By Spending 817 Crore: School Education Minister

Punjab School Education and Public Works Minister Vijay Inder Singla, on Thursday, said that under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led Congress government has ensured overall development of Punjab. He was here at District Administrative Complex Rupnagar to address a press conference on the competition of 4 years of the Congress government. While highlighting the achievements of their government, the Cabinet Minister said that apart from other key developments, the state government transformed the school education and introduced quality reforms in this basic sector.Vijay Inder Singla said that till date, their government has converted as many as 9604 government schools into smart schools by investing Rs. 817 crore and remaining schools will also be converted smart schools soon. He added that their government has also allocated Rs. 11,861 crore in the current budget. He said that Punjab has also become the first state to introduce pre-primary classes in government schools and during current academic session around 3.45 lakh students have been enrolled.Mr. Singla said that their government has also introduced online teacher transfer policy which was being implemented in a transparent and fair manner. 

He added that their government has also revised the promotion criteria in the education department and now the young teachers were being deputed on administrative posts for the optimum use of their potential. He said that with the new initiatives taken by the Congress government, the level of education has been improved in government schools. He added that these initiatives have also shown other positive results including increase in enrollment and improvement in results.The Cabinet Minister said that the village roads, which were being neglected by the previous governments, were being repaired in time and during their four year tenure, the public works department has executed repair of around 30,000 km of village roads with an expenditure of Rs. 3260 crore. He added that before the pious occasion of Hola-Mohalla, more than 90 percent connecting roads to Anandpur Sahib will be repaired. He said that apart from these developments, several other projects have also been completed in time to improve road connectivity.Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that the state also registered improvement in other sectors which helped to improve the financial condition of the state. He added that drug menace and other illegal activities have also been curbed their government to provide peaceful living environment to its residents.On this occasion, DC Ms. Sonali Giri, SSP Dr. Akhil Chaudhary, ADC (D) Mr. Dinesh Vashisht, SDM Mr. Gurbinder Singh, Assitant Commissioner (G) Mr. Inderpal Singh, Chairman Mr. Vijay Sharma and Mr.Ashwani Sharma were also present.
