A high level meeting of Hurriyat conference with its chairman Syed Ali Geelani in chair has blamed the ruling and opposition parties in state for assassination of Shaheed Mohammad Afzal Guroo .Terming the assassination as political reprisal and sheer violation of basic rights.Syed Ali Geelani reiterated that inhuman approach and arrogance adopted by India has amassed the miseries of Jammu and Kashmir and affirmed that instead of all these hurdles, on-going movement will be taken to its logical end. The meeting which was held after long interval and assassination of Afzal Guroo ,at Hyderpora, was attended by Employees Movement, Peoples League, Democratic Political Movement, Peoples Freedom League, Muslim Conference, Muslim League, Mass Movement, Muslim Khawateen Markaz, Tehreek E Wahdat E Islami and Tehreek E Hurriyat .
The main points discussed in meeting were, the post Mohammad Afzal assassination scenario and its impact, lifer against the youth and establishing new forces camps at various places. While addressing the executive meeting Syed Ali Geelani said that Shaheed Afzal is now a pioneer and a symbol of resistance for youth in Jammu and Kashmir and his assassination has rejuvenated the movement and infused a new sprit in ongoing freedom movement. Reaffirming its faith, Syed Ali Geelani declared that despite all odds the movement would be taken to its logical end. While agreeing with the constituent members Syed Ali Geelani said that it was with due consent of then Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah that Shaheed Mohamad Maqbool Bhat was taken to gallows and Omer Abdullah while following the footsteps of his father favoured the unjustified decision of Delhi with respect to Shaheed Mohammad Afzal Guroo.
Blaming ruling and opposition parties for their double and unconstitutional approach, Syed Ali Geelani added that they were hand in glows and their bewailing and lamenting over the assassination of Shaheed Mohamad Afzal Guroo is mere hoax and election stunt. Taking dig at Delhi, Syed Ali Geelani added that their refusal for return of mortal remains of Mohamad Afzal Guroo has exposed their tall claims being a great democracy and no doubt that India has emerged as a colonial symbol in world. India with its might and suppressive measures is hell bent to muzzle the just and genuine demand of people of Jammu and Kashmir. The detention and sacrifices are part of the movement and the repressive measures won’t deter the people of Jammu Kashmir from ongoing movement added Syed Ali Geelani. The administration is hell bent to weaken the freedom struggle with its power of arrogance but Kashmiri people are resilient enough and won’t bow before anti-people policies. The steadfastness and commitment of people is encouraging and it is with authority that curbs and other suppressive measures prevented the people; otherwise the people with all their will and sprits would have repeated the mass protests like Tehreer Squire.
While expressing his concern for lifer awards imposed on youth, Syed Ali Geelani called it unjustified approach and added that unconstitutional measures are a result of political reprisal and vengeances. The administration is just terrifying the youth and use their legal institutions as a tool against their political opponents. Syed Ali Geelani in his address made it clear that Jammu and Kashmir is a core issue recognised at international forums and people affiliated with the issue are political prisoners and no law on earth allow their trial through criminal procedure. The people of Jammu Kashmir were engaged in a peaceful movement. “We are fighting a nation that has unleashed reign of terror on us added Syed Ali Geelani and warned the rulers of consequences and added that reprisal and unjustified lifer to youth would deliver nothing good except the revolt and it would destabilize the state in futre.
Syed Ali Geelani strongly criticised the authorities and added that state has turned into a forcses camp .Reacting to the statement of army spokesman ,Syed Ali Geelani asked that it has nothing to do with the ground reality and the statement is baseless and misleading. Terming the demand and opposition of people of Wuyan justified, Syed Ali Geelani said that even after 65 years India is not withdrawing its forcses from the state. Despite their claims regarding the number of militants, Syed Ali Geelani added that administration claim that only 78 militants are active and despite all these claims new camps are being established near densely populated localities.
