In an effort to reduce the rising air pollution levels in Ludhiana, Punjab Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu today supervised the demonstration of Anti-Smog/Dust machines at MC Zone D office, here. He was also accompanied by Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu, MC Councillor Mamta Ashu, ADC (D) Sandeep Kumar, MC Joint Commissioner Swati Tiwana, besides several others.Bharat Bhushan Ashu informed that for providing clean and fresh air to the residents, such anti-smog and anti-dust machines would be deputed in several areas of the city. He informed that these machines would be bought by the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana under the National clean air programme (NCAP) and would help in settling down of suspended dust and pollution causing particles.He informed that demonstration of two different machines was taken, which included one mounted on an electric vehicle and the other on a Mahindra bolero. He said that these machines can be put to various uses such as washing dust off leaves of long trees, for sterilisation and for keeping a check on suspended dust and pollution causing particles.

Bharat Bhushan Ashu said that although there is a grave problem of air pollution in Ludhiana city and that is why, all stakeholders must play proactive role for the successful implementation of clean air mission for Ludhiana which will pave a great path towards the improvement of quality of air thereby positively effecting the health and life of the citizens of the city.Today’s demonstration was organised in order to deliberate on the issues related to control of air pollution of the city and to discuss the various aspects of National Clean Air Program (NCAP) and the scheme of Govt. of India for improvement of air quality of 42 Million Plus Urban Cities as per 15th Finance commission.He informed the stakeholder departments that Ludhiana is one of the nine non- attainment cities in state of Punjab and air quality management plan and action required as per action plan has already being approved by CPCB.The action plan states various stake holders like Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana, Dept. of transport, Dept. of police, Dept. of Forest, Dept. of industries and Commerce, PWD, PSCST, Deptt. of agriculture, District administration and their responsibilities.
