Talking about the Taliban at the 4th Military Literature Festival 2020, American political scientist Dr. C Christine Fair said the world must work together to stop terrorism. She said that some countries in the Asian region are helping a number of terrorist organizations, including the Taliban, at the expense of people around the world. In a conversation with KC Singh, IFS an Indian Administrative Service officer who has been India's ambassador to Iran, Dr. Fair said that lack of better coordination between the Pakistani government and the military was one of the reasons for the rise of the Taliban. Dr. Fair said that no country could solely curb terrorism related activities but collective action would be needed to control it.It is pertinent to mention that Dr. Fair is an American political scientist. She is an expert on counter-terrorism and issues related to the Asian region. She has written over half a dozen books.Discussions on "The Taliban are coming Calling: Deep States in Pakistan and India and the Role of Media" revealed that the internal and financial situation of the countries supporting Taliban in the Asian region has not improved much.

The money spent on helping terrorists is not spent on development works and many attacks within the country are sometimes the responsibility of terrorist groups that are supported by the government. Referring to India, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and other Asian countries affected by terrorism, She said that India has emerged at the top of the list of developing countries due to its stand against terrorism. The modus operandi of various terrorist organizations was also discussed. Talking about the 9/11 attacks on the United States, Dr. Fair said that there must be some forces behind the terrorist attacks and the countries that provides money to the terrorists are responsible for it. She praised the steps taken by the United States to wipe out the Talibans in Afghanistan.Talking about the role of media, she said that the declining trend of investigative journalism at present was a matter of concern. She said that most of the media houses were only showing what the people in power were saying. Both panelists expressed concern over unilateral reporting. Asked how the Taliban are using social media, Dr. Fair said the Talibans had been using this medium for some time. She said that terrorist organizations spread a lot of messages and videos through social media. She said the future would decide the new American government’s strategy about dealing with Taliban.
