Moving ahead on the agenda of development of the city, Cabinet Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu laid foundation stone of projects worth Rs. 1.72 crore in Mohali. The projects aim at giving a complete facelift to the markets and parks of the region. An amount of Rs. 6 crore would be spent for ushering a total transformation in the facilities for public in the markets and parks.While the markets are being renovated with paved approaches, rain water discharge provision, installation of sun-shades and ramps among others, water sprinker system is being installed in parks along with open gyms, informed Balbir Singh Sidhu.He also distributed heatlh cards and oldage pension sanction letters to senior citizens. As a token gesture a few were handed over the same on the spot while the remaining was delivered to the concerned. A total of 1000 health cards and 700 oldage pension sanction letters were disbursed.The Minister informed that soon a Modern, self- sustaining Gaushala is to come up soon in 10 acres at Balongi which would resolve the problem of stray cattle.The projects for which the foundation stones were laid today include Upgradation of Market , Phase -1 at a Cost of  Rs. 22 lac , Upgradation of Market , Phase - 2 at  a Cost of Rs.40 lac , Upgradation of Market and Green Belt phase 6  with Rs 45.1 lac , Installation of tubewell and sprinkler system in park Phase-7 with Rs.20.55 lac, laying of paver block in ward no-37 , Phase – 9 with Rs. 13.2 lac , Development of park in phase -9 in Ward no 24 at a Cost of Rs.10.15 lac , Providing and Fixing of open gym equipments with platform for disabled people in with Rs. 9.48 lac and  Up-gradation /repair of entry points from Chandigarh side portion to phase-9 with an expenditure of Rs. 11.55 lac.
