Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora today announced that the State-Level Commemoration of Shaheed Udham Singh's Martyrdom Day will be held with reverence, respect and grandeur on July 31 at the Grain Market, Sunam. He said that the Punjab Government has completed all preparations for the event, which is expected to be historic and memorable.

Interacting with the media, the Cabinet Minister said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will lead the state-level function. Members of the Punjab Cabinet, MLAs, senior government officials, and eminent social, religious and political leaders will also attend. Thousands of people from across Punjab, representing all sections of society, are expected to gather at Sunam to pay floral tributes to the great martyr.

Aman Arora said that the life of Shaheed Udham Singh remains an unparalleled example of patriotism, courage and supreme sacrifice. He added that the freedom enjoyed by the nation today is the result of the unparalleled sacrifices made by such great martyrs.

The Punjab Government is making sustained efforts to acquaint future generations with the history, legacy and ideals of the country's great freedom fighters. The Cabinet Minister further informed that the dream of establishing a world-class Shaheed Udham Singh Skill University in the name of the legendary martyr is fast becoming a reality.

The university is being established on a 32-acre campus in Kapurthala at an estimated cost of Rs 500 crore, and construction is progressing rapidly. He said the university would prove to be a milestone in positioning Punjab among the leading states of the country in the field of skill development.

He further informed that Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) will be signed with four renowned international universities for the Skill University. These MoUs will facilitate international-standard education, collaborative research, faculty exchange programmes, advanced technical training and enhanced overseas employment opportunities for students.

They will also empower Punjab's youth to showcase their talent and skills on the global stage. Aman Arora said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is committed to providing employment opportunities to young people in accordance with their qualifications.

With this objective, the Department of Industries and Commerce and the Department of Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training have jointly launched cluster-based mega employment camps across the state. He said that the first cluster-based mega employment camp organised in Sunam received an overwhelming response from the youth, where nearly 1,200 young people received employment offers and skill development opportunities from several reputed companies.

This model will now be replicated across other districts of Punjab to ensure that more youth can access quality employment opportunities within the state. The Cabinet Minister said that while the Punjab Government remains committed to preserving the legacy of the martyrs and fulfilling their vision for Punjab, it is simultaneously working to strengthen the state's economy by connecting young people with higher education, modern skills and meaningful employment opportunities.

On the occasion, Aman Arora also released the official poster of the State-Level Martyrdom Day Commemoration to be held on July 31 and appealed to the people of Punjab to attend the event with their families at the Sunam Grain Market, pay floral tributes to Shaheed Udham Singh, and draw inspiration from his ideals.

Speaking on the occasion, Jagdeep Singh Mehrok, representing the Kamboj community, said that all necessary arrangements have been put in place for the visit of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. During the poster release ceremony, held under the leadership of Jagdeep Singh Mehrok, Harjinder Singh Handa, Spokesperson, Kamboj Foundation, and Hardayal Singh Kamboj, Vice President, Kamboj Foundation, among those present were Giani Jangir Singh Ratan, Kesar Singh Dhot, Rimpy (MC), Bittu (MC), Pratipal Singh Kala (MC), Prabhsharan Singh Babbu (Former MC), Sarpanch Jagtar Singh, Dr. Malkit Singh, Darshan Singh Mehrok, Raghvir Singh Joshan, Narinder Singh, Kala Noogri and Gurpreet Dhot.
