A Bharatiya Janata Party delegation led by senior BJP leader, National President of the Central Valmiki Sabha India, former Chairman of the Punjab Safai Karamchari Commission, and BJP's 2024 Fatehgarh Sahib Lok Sabha candidate, Gejja Ram Valmiki, today met the Hon'ble Governor of Punjab and submitted a memorandum seeking immediate justice for the Safai Karamcharis and Sewer Men who were allegedly assaulted by police during a peaceful protest in Barnala.

The delegation included Vineet Joshi, State Media Head, BJP Punjab; P.S. Gammi Kaliyan, State Secretary, BJP SC Morcha, Punjab; Amarjit Singh, former President, BJP SC Morcha, Patiala; Kulwinder Singh "Honey", District President, BJP SC Morcha, Khanna; Raman Matto, District President, BJP SC Morcha, Rupnagar; and Tarun Walia.

In the memorandum, Gejja Ram Valmiki stated that the peaceful protest by Safai Karamcharis demanding their legitimate rights was met with an alleged brutal and unprovoked assault by DSP Satvir Singh Bains and SHO Lakhwinder Singh. He alleged that the incident reflected misuse of official authority and demanded strict action against the guilty officers.

The delegation urged the Governor to ensure the immediate dismissal of both DSP Satvir Singh Bains and SHO Lakhwinder Singh, asserting that suspension alone cannot be considered justice. They also demanded the immediate registration of an FIR against both officers under the relevant provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and on the basis of the victims' Medico-Legal Reports (MLRs).

The memorandum further requested the Governor's intervention to ensure that the long-pending and legitimate demands of the Safai Karamcharis and Sewer Men are addressed without further delay. The delegation expressed hope that constitutional authorities would act swiftly to ensure justice, accountability, and protection of the rights and dignity of the affected workers.
