DDC holds meeting on forming of FPOs in Anantnag

District Development Commissioner Anantnag, K.K Sidha today convened a meeting of concerned departments on formation and promotion of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) for direct benefit of produce to the farming community.The DDC stressed upon the officers for establishment of one FPO of 50-100 farmers in every agriculture related activity   like mushroom cultivation, bee keeping, dairy farming, Pisciculture and orchards at block level, and added that NABARD will be providing financial assistance for registration and promotion of these FPOs for three years amounting to Rs 12 lacs.The DDC also directed to involve PRIs and NGOs and SHGs as the NRLM has already set up SHGs in the district.The DDM NABARD assured to provide training and awareness to the FPOs and added that the incentives will also be paid by NABARD.After formation, these FPOs can be registered under companies’ act 2014 which will help in boosting the crop valve of the farmers.Among others, the meeting was attended by JD planning, Chiefs of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Lead District Manager Anantnag and DDM NABARD.
