Five Militants were Killed in Reban Village of South Kashmir's Shopian district on Sunday.Based on credible input forces of 1st RR Crpf and J&K Police launched search Operation in Reban village.As the forces evacated civilians and put them safer places Militants fired upon forces which was retaliated triggering Gunfight which ends after 12 hours with the killing of five Militants. Police said. They added that among five Militants two were wanted and three were newly recruited were neutralised in this Operation and according to police all are local's.A Top Police cop said in an interview with national television channel that today's encounter was big success and morale booster for Joint forces.Srinagar based PRO Army in a Statement said,Op Reban (Shopian). Jt operation launched in early hours today on JK Police input. Cordon laid & contact established. Firefight ensued. Five terrorists eliminated. Good drills ensured no collateral damage. Operation in progress.Kashmir Zone Police tweeted read as 05 terrorists killed. Identification being ascertained. Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition recovered. This evening police issued a detailed Press Release Read as ,On a specific input generated by Shopian Police, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Shopian police, 1 RR and 178 Bn CRPF in Reban area of District Shopian.During the search operation, the hiding terrorists fired on the joint search party. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter.In the ensuing encounter, 05 terrorists were killed and their bodies have been retrieved from the site of encounter. The identification and affiliation of the killed terrorists is being ascertained. However as per credible sources the killed terrorists belonged to proscribed HM terrorist outfit and one among the killed terrorists is believed to be a top commander.In case any family claims the killed terrorists to be their kith or kin can come forward for the identification.Incriminating material including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter.All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror crimes.In this connection a case under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Zainapora and investigation has been initiated.People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosive materials, if any.
