The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has so far spent Rs 2.58 crore for ensuring free travel to around 48000 migrants via 40 ‘Shramik Express’  trains which chugged off from the city by Tuesday late evening.Two more trains with 2400 passengers today chugged off for Basti (Uttar Pradesh) and Sultanpur. The 37th train  from the city went to Basti at 2 pm in the afternoon whereas the 38th one for Sultanpur at 7 pm in the evening. Both the trains went under the supervision of the Additional  Commissioner of Municipal Commissioner Ms. Babita Kler, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Balkar Singh and other officers.Under this ambitious scheme in which free travel  facility was being provided to the migrants desirous to move to their respective states the Captain government has run first free train to Daltonganj in Jharkhand followed by  second to Gajipur and Banaras on May 5, to Lucknow, Gorakhpur and Ayodhya on May 6, to Azamgarh, Darbhanga and Bahraich on May 7, to Sultanpur, Mujaffar Nagar and  Akbarpur on May 8, to Kathiyar, Azamgarh and Faizabad on May 9 and to Sultanpur, Barkakhana and Gonda on May 10, Chapra, Azamgarh, Katni and Faizabad on May 11,  Gaya, Gorakhpur, Gonda and Bettiah on May 11, Gorakhpur, Gonda and Bettiah on May 12, Sitapur, Rai Bareli, Vijayvada, Gaya and Partapgarh on May 13, to Unnao, Gaya,  Faizabad and Mau on May 14 and to Faizabad, Basti, Sultanpur on May 15 along with Barkakhana and Gonda later this evening.The state government has spent around Rs 2.  58 crore to facilitate around 48,000  migrants for moving to their respective states from the city. The district administration led by Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varinder Kumar  Sharma, Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Navjot Singh Mahal were on their toes to ensure the smooth and hassle free  movement of the migrants from the district.
