The scheme of deploying Village/Ward Police Officers was not only helping in imposing a curfew or to ensure the use of safety measures by the public to control the COVID-19 effectively, but this channel has been proving a very good link between the public and administration to solve the problems being faced by people at ground level. As an instance, following feedback from the Ward Police Officers deployed in Mansa's slum areas that there was a serious problem of sewerage system in these areas, which could cause an outbreak of serious disease, Deputy Commissioner Mansa Gurpal Singh Chahal and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mansa Dr Narinder Bhargav on Monday, jointly visited this slum area. The areas including Kot Da Tibba, Seema Mahant Wali Gali, the adjacent area of 33' Road, Gurjant Man Wali Gali and nearby areas have a population of over 12000 people.During the visit, the DC and SSP Mansa found that the sewerage in this area was not functioning properly and the sewerage water was seen coming out of the sewerage main holes causing the foul smell and polluted air in this residential area. Acting swiftly, the DC and SSP after coordinating with the XEN Water Supply, Sewerage Board and Executive Officer Municipal Committee Mansa had provided immediate temporary relief by clearing the stagnant water using disposal pumps to prevent any outbreak of the disease. The Deputy Commissioner and SSP Mansa assured the public that the matter will be taken up at the Government level to get necessary funds for the permanent solution of this problem.Meanwhile, the DC and SSP Mansa heard the other grievances of the public of this area also. The residents of this area, expressed their satisfaction and expressed gratitude to the administration in respect of the supply of ration, vegetables, fruits, LPG, medicines and other items of daily use by the administration and also assured that they are complying with the provisions of the curfew imposed and also maintaining the social physical distancing, wearing masks and using sanitisers.
