A two day Technology Exhibition cum Seed Sale Mela with the theme, ‘Scientific Farming for Sustainability and Profitability’ was inaugurated by Prof. Nazeer Ahmed, Vice- Chancellor, SKUAST-K in presence of Prof Mushtaq Ahmad, Director Extension and other University Officers here at the main campus, her today. Stalls exhibiting the transferable  technologies and sale of Agri, Horti, Animal husbandry, and Fisheries were installed by the different Research stations, subject matter faculties, KVK’s, University adopted farmers  and entrepreneurs in the campus and people were seen purchasing the different inputs.Fruit plant seedlings, vegetable seeds, flower seedlings, poultry birds, milk and milk  products, livestock feeds, vermin compost, fish, value added vegetable and fruit products were put on sale for the visitors.Literature on scientific agriculture, horticulture,  sericulture, fish farming and livestock farming was distributed among the visiting farmers and entrepreneurs free of cost.Scientists interacting with the farmers, entrepreneurs and  students were seen at their respective stalls.Ali Mohammad Lone a farmers from Ganderbal district said that he is a regular visitor to the Mela and has been purchasing the  vegetable, flower and fruit plant seedlings each year from the Mela.“The peculiarity of the Mela is that you get all the agricultural inputs under one roof with true to type material  and one has not to go anywhere else” Lone said.Worth mentioning here that the Varsity has been celebrating the annual Mega Mela since 2016 and this was the 5th Mela  organized by the university.
