Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has expressed serious concern over the ‘systematic ethnic cleansing of Muslims in Burma perpetrated by the majority Buddhist community’.In a statement issued here, Mirwaiz said the Buddhist rioters were burning masjids, houses, and schools of Muslim minority community. He said the Burmese government inaction to stop the Buddhist onslaught on minority rohignya Muslims is tantamount to a crime. The APHC chairman said that if arson and slaughtering of Muslim property and life continues in Burma, then situation is expected to take a serious turn.

Mirwaiz demanded the immediate halt of the violence perpetrated by the majority Buddhist community against the minority Muslims.Mirwaiz regretted the silence of OIC and international community over the communal violence by majority Buddhist community against the Muslims. He said a fully fledged humanitarian crisis has erupted in Burma and its ripple effects could be felt in the entire Muslim Nations.Mirwaiz said ‘particularly OIC’s silence was unacceptable. He said the orgnaistaion has completely failed to stop the Muslim genocide in Burma’.“So far the Buddhist mobs had burned down two masjids, 50 homes and several other buildings . The violence have killed dozens of people and displaced 10,000. The total death toll so far is reported to be at 32”,m said the statement.Mirwaiz appealed to OIC, UN, Amnesty International, ICRC, and other human rights groups to take serious note of violence against Muslims in Burma. He said the international rights organisation should put pressure on Burmese governemt to stop ethnic cleansing of Muslims.
