Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today laid foundation stones and inaugurated developmental projects worth Rs. 525 crore for Shimla town which include foundation stones of Smart Pedestrian Path from IGMC to Sanjauli at Sanjauli being constructed under Shimla Smart City Mission by spending Rs.17.36 crore. He also laid foundation stone of Multi Storey parking and link road to new OPD IGMC Shimla under Shimla Smart City Mission by spending Rs. 32 crore and inaugurated the augmentation of Lift Water Supply Scheme Chaba (Kol Dam) to Shimla as well as existing pump station Gumma completed by spending an amount of Rs.70 crore and laid foundation stone of Water Supply Scheme to Shimla City from Satluj river to be completed by spending Rs. 406 crore.While addressing the people on the occasion, Chief Minister said that the 406 crore ambitious water supply scheme for Shimla city from Satluj river would be completed by the year 2022. He said that this would provide over 67 MLD water to Shimla town and ensure adequate water supply to town upto year 2050.Jai Ram Thakur said that the Chaba (Kol Dam)-Shimla lift water supply scheme which was formally inaugurated today was ensuring 10 MLD water to Shimla town. He said that both these water supply schemes would prove boon to the residents of Shimla town which was not only capital of the State but also a world famous tourists destination.
Chief Minister said that in order to facilitate the residents as well as tourists visiting Shimla, a covered footpath on valley side along with the stretch of road leading from IGMC Shimla to Sanjauli was being constructed under Shimla Smart City Mission which would be completed by spending an amount of Rs. 17.36 crore. He said that the path would have smart poles with speaker, CCTV lighting facility and Wifi facility. He said that smart digital signage and monkey repellent devices would also be installed along side the path.Jai Ram Thakur said that the multi-storyed parking complex and road linking the new OPD Block of IGMC would facilitate parking of over 420 vehicles and contribute extensively in easing out the parking problem at IGMC. He said that link would provide an easy and additional access from Cart Road to new OPD Block of IGMC.Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj thanked the Chief Minister for dedicating and laying foundation stones of developmental projects worth crores of rupees for Shimla town on day one of the New Year 2020.Irrigation and Public Health Minister Mahender Singh Thakur, Urban Development Minister Sarveen Chaudhary, Mayor Satya Kaundal, Deputy Mayor Shailender Chauhan, President District BJP Ravi Mehta, Secretary IPH Dr. R.N. Batta, Secretary Urban Development C. Paulrasu, Commissioner MC Shimla Pankaj Rai and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
