The 7th meeting of Punjab State Road Safety Council was today held at Punjab Bhawan Chandigarh under the Chairmanship of Mrs. Razia Sultana Transport Minister, Punjab. The meeting was attended by Mr. K. Siva Prasad, Principal Secretary, Transport, Dr. Amarpal Singh, State Transport Commissioner, Dr. Abhinav Trikha, Special Secretary Expenditure, Dr, Sharad S. Chauhan, ADGP, Traffic, Punjab. Besides officers from NHAI, Local Government, NIC, Education, Punjab Mandi Board, PRBDB also attended the meeting.Disclosing this in a press communiqué official spokesperson of the Transport Department said that in the meeting the Transport Minister emphasized the need to accelerate Road Safety measures which will help in saving valuable lives. The important issues deliberated in the meeting were purchase of equipment to strengthen the Road Safety measures, mapping of ambulance accessibility, identification of black spots, intensifying the Enforcement Measures, Creation of Road Safety Fund, observing of 31st National Road Safety Week 2020. A presentation on progress under Punjab Vision Zero Project was also given. The spokesperson further said that all the Deputy Commissioners also attended the meeting through Video Conferencing and the working of District Road Safety Committees was reviewed. The other important issues concerning the Deputy Commissioners especially compounding of offences with reference to the two Notifications issued on December 19,2019  by the Government were also deliberated upon.
