Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu today paid homage to the gallant officers of Armed Forces on the occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day here at the Raj Bhavan. Brig. (Retd.) Harcharan Singh, Director, Rajya Sainik Board pinned a token Flag on the self of the Lt. Governor on the occasion.The Lt. Governor observed that the Armed Forces Flag Day is an important occasion for remembering the men of our Defence Services who maintain an eternal vigil to safeguard our frontiers and made the supreme sacrifice while protecting India’s territorial integrity. He lauded the crucial role of the Armed Forces, especially in Jammu and Kashmir for combating terrorism and in case of any emergent situation.The Lt. Governor made contribution towards the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund and conveyed his best wishes to all serving and retired Defence personnel, and their families, on the occasion.Director RSB apprised the Lt. Governor about various initiatives launched by the Board for ensuring welfare of the war widows and families of ex-Servicemen and serving armed forces personnel. He also raised the issues of war veterans and gallantry awardees related to the enhancement of honorarium and pensions, allotment of residential plots etc.The Lt. Governor assured the Director RSB that issues projected by him would be looked it into priority for their early redressal. He urged the Rajya Sainik Boardto continue their concerted efforts for carrying out welfare activities for the ex-Servicemen and their families.Sh. Shaleen Kabra, Principal Secretary Home Department; Sh. Bipul Pathak, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor; Brig.(Retd.) Anil Gupta; Brig. (Retd.) R L Sharma; Honorary Capt. Sardar Bana Singh, PVC; and Hav. Rashid Ahmed (Retd.) SM among others, present on the occasion.
