District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Choudhary Mohammad Yasin today along with team of officers conducts extensive tour of Vehil, Ramnagri and various villages in district Shopian to assess the damage caused to horticulture sector due to recent snowfall.He also reviewed the supply and stock position of essentials and snow clearness in the area.The DDC visits several damaged orchards and met various public deputations from the area who apprised him about the damage caused to their orchards.On the occasion DDC said that teams have been constituted to assess the damage caused to the orchards.He also enquired from the local masses about the availability of essentials in the area and directed the officers to address the issues and grievances of people on priority basis.DDC also inspected health centre Vehil and took stock of health services being provided to the patients. He also inspected various wards and interacted with patients.DDC also directed Revenue and Horticulture Departments to pace up on snow damage assessment and submit the report for early release of compensation to the affected farmers.The DDC emphasized on area wise damage assessment of snow affected orchards and directed concerned to submit a comprehensive report.In view of the weather inclement forecast reports, the DDC directed the concerned to remain in state of readiness and keep men and machinery ready to meet emergency like situation to ensure smoothly delivery of essential services.All Tehsildars were also instructed to submit report related to partial and fully damaged houses within two days for timely release of compensation.During the visit, the DDC was informed that all major and link roads have been cleared of snow while electricity and water supply has been also been restored across the district.
