Civil Surgeon Flags Off Tb Mobile Teams

The Civil Surgeon Dr Gurinder Kaur Chawla on Wednesday flagged off mobile Tuberculosis (TB) teams to detect, supervise treatment and creating awareness about the disease under Active Case Finding screening scheme.Addressing the gathering, Dr Chawla said that mobile teams on the two-wheelers would visit door to door in Qazi Mandi, Bhargo Camp, Chogitti, Santokhpura, Industrial Area, Basti Danishmandan, Mithu Basti and will screen suspected cases. She said that each team will ensure coverage of 40 houses in a day and will submit the report with the department daily.Dr Chawla said that teams will also make the people aware of Tuberculosis, how it spreads, how it is diagnosed and treated so that the disease can be eliminated from the country by 2025.She said that the district health department is committed to making Jalandhar a Tuberculosis free.  She said that there is a need to involve all the stakeholders in this war to eradicate the disease and added that treatment of the disease is very much available in all government hospitals.She appealed the patients to complete the course of TB medicine and they must not leave it in midway as the disease may have long-term consequences on the health of the patients.
