Civil Surgeon flags off awareness van on non-communicable diseases

Civil Surgeon Dr Gurinder Kaur Chawala on Tuesday flagged off an awareness van to sensitize the general public about various non-communicable diseases like diabetes, blood pressure, heart diseases, cancer, stroke etc.Dr Chawla accompanied by Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr Gurmeet Kaur Duggal said that as part of this awareness campaign on non-communicable diseases, this van has been made-up, in which awareness material has been displayed along with the LED and audio-visual address system. She said that this van would reach out to various areas and villages of the district.  She added that the people above 30 must undergo blood pressure and diabetes tests regularly.  The Civil Surgeon further said that in order to avoid non-communicable diseases, fast food, unhygienic street foods, alcohol, and tobacco must be avoided and physical exercise must be part of daily routine. Prominent among present occasion included District Epidemiologist Dr Satish Kumar and others.
