District Administration reviews Muharram arrangements

District administration convened a meeting here today to review the arrangements being put in place for Muharram.Additional Deputy Commissioner Rishpal Singh chaired the meeting which was attended by Superintendent of Police (North) Amritpal Singh, SDM Jammu South, Shrikant Suse, Joint Commissioner, JMC P.S Manhas, Superintending Engineers PDD, Chief Medical Officer, Administrator Auquaf, Assistant Director FCS&CA, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, Engineers of PWD(R&B) and PHE, Fire and Emergency Services officer besides members and representatives of religious organizations.Giving details about religious events to be held during the Muharram month, the representatives of religious organizations put forth their requirements for organizing events which would be attended by scores of people. ADC asked the PDD to ensure un-interrupted power supply during Muharram and instructed the concerned officers to ensure availability of water tankers especially at places of mass gatherings besides making proper provisions for medical aid and ambulances.He instructed the Jammu Municipal Corporation to ensure cleanliness around Imambaras and Mosques where processions would be taken out during Muharram. He asked the concerned to replace damaged street lights so that the mourners will not suffer during their night movements.The PWD authorities were directed to ensure that the dilapidated roads, if any, from where the procession would take place are repaired at the earliest.He further instructed for putting in place proper provision for security, traffic management besides better coordination among departments and religious organizations so that adequate service delivery is ensured in the district.
