SGPC started a mass plantation drive on the occasion of Guru Purav of Guru Har krishan Sahib Ji

Dedicating to the 550th of Birth Century of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Member Chandigarh in Collaboration with Forest Department, Chandigarh Administration started a mass plantation drive on the occasion of Guru Purav of Guru Har krishan Sahib Ji, A forest and a medicinal garden has been planted in Gurudwara Bagh Shaheedan, Sector 44, Chandigarh. On the occasion Sardar Gobind Singh Longowal, President, Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Amritsar, Bibi Harjinder Kaur, Member SGPC, Sh. Avtar Singh, Secretary, SGPC and all Gurudwara Sangathan presidents, secretary and members, S. Satpal Singh, S. Jagir Singh, S. Amarjit Singh, Managers, SGPC planted the special species of plants which are rare and sacredly mentioned in Guru Garnth Sahib ji because of their special features. On the occasion S. Hardeep Singh, Senior Deputy Mayor, Chandigarh, and Ms. Satwant kaur, Akali Dal President were also present.In this first such mass plantation drive in the city started by SGPC, Sh. Debendra Dalai, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest, Chandigarh Administration has contributed huge number of plants to create a forest and medicinal garden together. 550 plants of 45 varieties are planted in the forest and 207 medicinal plants of 25 varieties are planted in the medicinal garden.  Bibi Harjinder Kaur, Member SGPC Informed that there is plan of planting 200 more fruit trees in the area. This mass movement is to spread the Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s message to love nature and humanity and save water, earth and air i.e. Pavan Guru, Paani Pita, Maata Dharat mahat . Let us all join and plant more trees to save the future generations.
