Civil Surgeon Flags Off Polio Rickshaw Rally

Civil Surgeon Dr.Rajesh Bagga on Friday flagged off a polio rickshaw rally to spread the awareness about pulse polio campaign which is set to start from June 16 to 18 in the district.Civil Surgeon said that the rally would go to various areas of the district where announcements would be made to keep residents updated on the pulse polio campaign.Dr. Bagga told that a total of 1089 health teams will administer polio drops to 1.38 lakh children between the age group of 0-5 years in the special campaign from June 16 -18.All arrangements have been made regarding the pulse polio campaign, he said and added that although India is declared polio-free, some cases are reported in neighbouring countries such as Pakistan and Afghanistan.He said that the migratory population residing in slums and brick kilns would be specially covered. He appealed to the residents to assist the Health Department in carrying out this drive successfully.
