“The Punjab Government would ensure that no stone is left unturned in implementing at ground level the various schemes aimed at the welfare of women and children and furthermore, the directions given in this from time to time by the Women and Child Development Minister, Punjab, Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary would be followed.”These views were expressed here today by the Chairperson, Punjab State Social Welfare Board Mrs. Gursharan Kaur Randhawa in a meeting at her office while conducting a meeting of the Child Development Project Officers and Senior Assistants of the 5 ICDS blocks pertaining to the border districts Amritsar (Harsha Chhina), Gurdaspur (Dera Baba Nanak), Ferozpur (Makhu), Fazilka (Khooian Sarvar) and Tarn Taran (Bhikhiwind) functioning under the board. During the course of meeting the Chairperson also reviewed the performance of the blocks functioning under the board. The meeting also brainstormed on evolving the strategy to implement with precision the schemes being run in these 5 blocks for the welfare and development of women as well as children.The Chairperson also directed the filling up of the vacancies with regard to the Supervisors, Anganwadi Workers and Helpers in all blocks as per the directions of the Punjab Government. The administrative matters related to the 5 blocks were also thoroughly discussed with many resolved on the spot by the Chairperson. Apart from this, the discussions also centered on the ongoing court cases connected with the 5 blocks and the Chairperson directed the Child Development Project Officers to clear the backlog of these court cases at the earliest. The Chairperson also ordered all the officers present to ensure that the anganwadi centres are run in an efficient and smooth manner and directed them to send centre wise information every month.During the meeting, the Secretary of the Board Mr. Abhishek, Sunita P.A. and Senior Assistant Mr. Narinder Singh were also present.
