The third phase of flagship Farm Crop Loan Waiver Scheme of the Capt Amarinder Singh led Punjab government has started, under which debt worth Rs 64.44 crore of 7,778 farmers of district Ludhiana has been waived off by the state government. Member of Parliament from Ludhiana Mr Ravneet Singh Bittu today distributed the certificates in this regard to the beneficiary farmers at three different functions organised at Hambran, Mullanpur and Jagraon.While speaking on the occasion, Mr Ravneet Singh Bittu said that under the third phase of this scheme, debt worth Rs 6.22 crore of 861 farmers from Gill constituency, worth Rs 7.72 crore of 993 farmers of Dakha constituency, worth Rs 9.49 crore of 1208 farmers from Jagraon constituency, Rs 7.33 crore of 771 farmers from Sahnewal constituency, Rs 4.84 crore of 553 farmers from Khanna constituency, Rs 11.52 crore of 1418 farmers from Payal constituency, Rs 9.31 crore of 1176 farmers from Raikot constituency, Rs 8.01 crore of 798 farmers from Samrala constituency has been waived off by the Punjab government. He said that the certificates in this regard were distributed to the beneficiary farmers today.

Mr Bittu informed that in the previous two phases, farm debt of Rs 311.71 crore of 38,432 farmers from district Ludhiana has already been waived off and the certificates have been distributed to them.

While addressing the gathering, the Ludhiana MP said that the Capt Amarinder Singh led Punjab government is committed for the welfare of all sections of the society. He appealed to the Punjabis to wholeheartedly support the state government regarding carrying out overall development of Punjab. He also appealed to the farmers to plan their finances in such a manner that they do not fall prey to the debt and should also check their unnecessary expenditure.Mr Ravneet Singh Bittu announced that soon, the debt of landless farm workers belonging to the scheduled caste community would also be waived off by the Punjab government.Others who also addressed the gathering included Senior Congress leader and former MP Mr Amrik Singh Aliwal, Mr Major Singh Bhaini, Mr Gurdev Singh Lapran, Mr Manjit Singh Hambran, Mr Darshan Singh Birmi.Prominent among those present on the occasion included SDM Ludhiana (West) Mr Damanjit Singh Mann, District Congress Committee (Rural) president Mr Karanjit Singh Soni Galib, Mr Anand Sarup Singh Mohi, Mr KK Bawa, Mr Rachhpal Singh Talwara, Mr Major Singh Mullanpur, Mr Harkaran Singh Vaid, besides several others.
