Entrusted upon the responsibility of poor results of the government schools on District Education Officers (DEOs) and Principals, the Punjab Education Minister O.P. Soni today strictly warned that the officers and principals will be fully accountable for the poor performances of the students of the state.Presiding over the high level meeting with the District Education Officers (DEOs), Mr. Soni said that DEOs should regularly check the schools and punctuality among the teachers and other staff to ensure the better results. He further said that the examination center should be set up keeping in mind that students do not have to travel more than three kilometers from their home.He also said that the list of those schools, whose buildings are unsafe and in dilapidated condition, should be sent immediately and all such buildings will be rebuilt in one year.On the issue of vacant posts of teachers and other employees in various schools, Mr. Soni directed that these posts will be filled with due promotions and rationalization. He asked the DEOs to fulfill the posts of class four and other employees on their level.To sort out the other demands of the officers, the Education Minister ordered to form five members committee of DEOs, which will redress their problems at the ground level.On this occasion, DGSE Mr. Prashant Kumar Goyal, DPI (Secondary) Mr. Sukhjitpal Singh, DPI (Elementary) Mr. Inderjit Singh and OSD to Minister Mr. D.S. Saroa were present.
