The District Level Review & District Consultative Committee meeting of Bankers of Leh district for the quarter ending June 2018 was held today in Leh Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Leh Avny Lavasa in the presence of Executive Councillor LAHDC Tsering Wangdus.While addressing the meeting, Avny Lavasa urged upon the banks to be pro-active and contribute towards the development of the district by advancing loans in important fields of agriculture, education, mudra and other centre and state-sponsored schemes for the benefit of the unemployed, and economically backward sections of the society. "All the banks and their branches need to make a personal effort, take initiatives and conduct financial literacy camps at town and village level to make people aware about various financial schemes," Avny Lavasa said.DC reviewed the previous quarter performances and took a detailed report from the concerned bankers and officials about NRLM, KVIB, DIC, KVIC, ST/SC, KCC and also discussed upon important matters like the educational loan, KCC, and other loans.

Earlier, Lead Bank Manager, Leh Abdul Rashid Bhat apprised the meeting about the performance of banks in Leh in terms of Deposits/Advances, achievements of government-sponsored schemes where there is growth of 1.24% in deposits portfolio, at the same time there is an increase of 11.72% in advances portfolio of the district during the quarter.The loan portfolio of the district has increased by Rs. 90.25 crore during the quarter, out of which there is a growth of 11.23% in priority sector advances.The achievements of credit to agriculture sector stands at Rs 21.66 crore as on 30/06/2018 as against a target of Rs. 85.44 crore indicating an achievement of 25.35 % of the annual credit plan.He further informed the meeting that the overall CD ratio of all the banks except AXIS bank increased by 2.91% over the previous quarter. As of March 2018, it was 27.99% and it was 30.90 % as on 30 June 2018.  Total deposits of all banks operating in the district as on 30th June 2018 stood at Rs 2784.10 crore as against Rs 2749.91 crore as on 31st March 2018, indicating growth of Rs 34.09 crore in deposits.The agricultural advances in the district have been Rs 108.65 crore as on 30th June 2018 which is 6.61% of total advances. On the occasion, the annual activity report of 2017-18 of SBI–RSETI Leh was also presented. The meeting was attended by HODs of the line departments and bank managers of various banks operating in Leh.
