Writers & litterateurs remembered during a colourful evening at Punjab Kala Bhawan

A colourful evening marked the celebration of the birthdays of the eminent writers as well as litterateurs at the Punjab Kala Bhawan as part of the series envisaged by the Punjab Kala Parishad. The evening was presided over by the Chairman of the Punjab Kala Parishad Padmashri Dr. Surjit Patar. Paying heartfelt homage to the deceased writers and artists born during August month with anecdotes from their lives, Dr. Patar also appreciated the work being done by the present emerging artists.On the occasion, various speakers spoke about the legacy bestowed by the departed writers. Prof. Nirmal Jaura remembered lyricist Inderjit Hassanpuri, Eminent sports writer Navdeep Gill related anecdotes from the life of Ram Sarup Ankhi, Prof. Yograj remembered Amrita Pritam and Ninder Ghugianvi threw light on the life of Prof. Ajmer Aulakh. 

Other prominent personalities such as Amar Singh Shaunki, Dr. Harbhajan Singh, Vidhata Singh Teer, Tara Singh Qamil and Raghbir Singh Chand were also remembered with awe by the speakers.The evening was made memorable by singer Sukhi Brar, Neelam Sharma, Vishal Saini, Raavi Bal, Gurinder Garry, Shaddy Singh, Sukhwinder Sukhi, Shaganpreet Singh and Manpreet Bhatti lending their melodious voice to the literary creations of the departed writers. The evening was anchored by the Media Co-ordinator of the Punjab Kala Parishad Ninder Ghugianvi who regaled the audience with his comic titbits.The evening was graced with the presence of Mr. Gurdeep Laddhar from Canada, Mr. Amarjit Singh from Australia, Writer Mr. Jung Bahadur Goyal, Mr. N.S. Rattan, ex-minister Gurkanwal kaur, Mr. Subhash Bhaskar and Mr. Jatinder Moudgill.
